Software to Monitor Internet Activity
iPrism Filtering: Industry:
Leading Software to Monitor Internet Activity

iPrism offers effective filtering and monitoring services in two ways. iPrism software to monitor Internet activity uses the iGuard database to filter and categorize every individual web page for a site. Advanced reporting and notification features provide software to monitor Internet activity across your entire network, from network-wide statistics to information on usage for a single desktop.

Easy Category-Based Filtering
Filtering can be difficult to configure effectively because of the difficulty identifying which pages to filter. The most common way to filter pages is through identifying keywords on the site pages, but the old trope of confusing breast on a porn site and breast on a medical site is true; software-based analysis is often confounded by context. Also, it can be difficult to target which pages to block. Filtering based on IP address – like configuring firewalls or using blacklists – will block every site hosted by the IP address, regardless of content. That creates the problem of blocking harmless, even necessary, sites. That kind of filter also has to be updated frequently to try to keep up with emerging sites, which can require constantly reconfiguring your firewall or network devices.

iGuard uses a different kind of software to monitor Internet activity. It is a combined solution, using both context-aware keyword filtering and human review of every page to accurately identify what a page is about. iGuard approaches filtering differently, by basing filtering on categories. A category is either allowed or blocked; even if the pages listed in that category change, filtering doesn’t need reconfigured and never has gaps in coverage. Because iGuard categorizes individual web pages, rather than the entire sites, iGuard allows fine-grained control over which pages are allowed and which are blocked. Some pages in a site can be blocked while other pages on the same site are allowed. Users have even more control because a block on a site can be overridden, so the site can still be viewed.

Reporting Software to Monitor Internet Activity
iPrism software to monitor Internet activity can track traffic from the entire network down to a single user. iPrism capitalizes on advanced reporting software to monitor Internet activity. You can track how your employees are using the Internet by gathering several different sets of information, including:
  • The most accessed pages for the entire network
  • The number and addresses of sites visited by a user
  • The time spent on the Internet, for the entire network or for a user
  • iPrism actions: blocking the request, passing the request after an override, or no action

All kinds of reports can be generated through the easy-to-use software to monitor Internet activity.
